Internship Readiness

The qualities of someone who is internship ready is someone who has good professionalism, takes the initiative, and who is striving to learn more. The way I plan to demonstrate my internship readiness is to not procrastinate, which is very important. Procrastination will definitely slow me down and will show that I am not a responsible person. Being on time and being punctual is another important factor. I can also demonstrate on my public speaking skills because I've always had stage fright. The changes I am willing to make is to speak up more often because I tend to be very quiet. It's usually a good and sometimes not so good to be quiet as often as I am which I've been told. I am going to show a lot more energy than I used to in the last two modules. I am also going to stop doubting myself because it will get in the way of my success.

  1. Very insightful and well put, Catherine. All of the qualities you listed are indicative of a someone who is or would be very successful in internship, or in the work world in general. I am very happy that you intend to focus on your "stage fright." As I know we have discussed many times before-- this can be a very difficult and, at times, challenging thing to overcome, but will be so meaningful in terms of professional development. Just remember that your Year Up peers as well as staff members, are all here to support you!!
